1919: During their 2nd Triennial Congress in Zurich, Switzerland, the International Committee of Women for Permanent Peace (ICWPP) becomes the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), and goes on to endorse the idea of a League of Nations.

1915-1919: Five WILPF members visit several Heads of States to further spread their message of long lasting peace by way of universal disarmament, the right to self-government, and political and economic equality.
1919: The women of WILPF become the first to speak out and denounce the Treaty of Versailles, stating that it creates the conditions for future warfare.
1919: Determined to support the League of Nations as an avenue for achieving world disarmament and peace, WILPF moves the organisation’s headquarters from Amsterdam to an eighteenth century house in Geneva, Switzerland, across the lake from the League of Nations’ office.
